In an interview he gave to the prestigious American magazine Sports
Illustrated, Shinsuke Nakamura delivered his impressions of his last
opponents, leaving Japan, Kenny Omega and the show immortals:
WrestleMania.
On Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn:Samoa Joe is special, it's a real wrestler. He knows true techniques to beat an opponent. It uses MMA techniques, so this is the real fight. I also know what kind of techniques (Nakamura with a record of 3-1 in MMA, note) so that's what we show in the ring when we fight.Sami Zayn is also a real wrestler. We had a good chemistry when we fought at TakeOver Dallas. It was the first time we fought together, but I quickly realized it was a great wrestler.
On his life in the United States:I have no regrets about my departure from Tokyo to Orlando, except for surfing. I was 10 minutes walk to the beach from my house in Japan while here I am 1 hour's drive from the beach. I could surf every day (Nakamura is a big fan of surfing, note) so this is a real problem for me.I have to study English a little, I'll start by watching Sesame Street (1 Sesame Street in French, with puppets Muppet Show, ed) every day!I am confident that I can succeed everywhere and here too. Wrestling with his own culture. Every culture, be it Japan, Samoa Islands, Korea, have all of the Catch and Catch is a global culture.
On the NJPW, the organization for which he fought for 14 years:I continue to follow the product, yes. I paid attention lately to the historic victory of Kenny Omega in the G-1 Climax. I congratulate him, he did a great job. I know how he feels, he catch to take care of the company, for the fans, and to take care of his opponents. He is constantly looking for new ideas, so I can really identify with him
On his inspirations in the US and Wrestlemania:My inspirations are "Macho Man" Randy Savage and Andre the Giant, it was easy to understand their character.I would fight at WrestleMania. John Cena as opponent, it'd be a great choice.
